Steve Hill

With 30-years' of catering experience Steve’s role is to ensure delegates at EPC have a wide range of food and drink that will help them to refuel while learning.

Having spent time catering in the Royal Air Force, Steve understands how to provide to best menus for large groups and differing needs.

Having spent over 30 years in the industry, nearly half of that in the Royal Air Force, Steve has gained a diverse knowledge throughout that time as well as the ability to manage large and complex teams.

He is responsible for provision and delivery of all catering at Hawkhills and for the EPC - and this is a diverse menu from its core business of delegates to weddings and conferences of all sizes.

Overseeing a team of ten, as well as working closely with the front of house manager, his hands on approach enables him to get the best out of his team.

Steve’s background has equipped him with the skills to build an excellent and streamlined team, which he feels is essential.  He also has excellent communication skills maintaining a good rapport between departments, which in turn creates a strong working environment.

Catering is very often a challenge and can include a lot of unsociable hours, because of this Steve feels that one of the most important values required is the desire to provide a first class service to guests to the best of your ability.  Feedback is also something that he values and feels that passing on customer feedback and comments to staff helps to energise the team.  It also gives the building blocks of core success.

With both children and grandchildren Steve spends his spare time being a family taxi service. In between this Steve likes everything in moderation including Formula 1, reading, quizzes and football.
