
Having provided support to numerous high-profile emergencies and shared her knowledge as a result, Emergency Planning College (EPC) Resilience Capability Lead Kelly Blakeley has a respected reputation across local and national government.
With a particular focus on business continuity and cyber resilience, Kelly is adept at effectively implementing national standards at a local level and was part of the panel of experts who drafted the Cabinet Office National Resilience Standards for business continuity.
Shaping and delivering business continuity (BC) resilience for the EPC, Kelly brings a highly experienced skillset and ability to the role. Her previous involvement dealing with exercises and disruptive events, covering a large variety of resilience subject matters, including cyber, business continuity, flooding, derailment, terrorism, wide scale loss of utilities, pandemics and cyber incidents.
Kelly provides training on emergency management, business continuity, cyber resilience and the online resilience platform ResilienceDirect.
Having authored one of the very first Local Resilience Forum cyber resilience plans nationally, Kelly has worked with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to successfully implement the Cabinet Office National Resilience Standards.
Kelly’s knowledge makes her an invaluable part of our team. Her previous experience has included being Chair and Project Manager of the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum Business Continuity and Cyber Resilience Group. She also holds experience leading on the implementation of increased resilience for organisations such as Lincolnshire County Council.
Passionate about empowering people to implement best practice, Kelly says: “It is great seeing professionals develop their own management systems once they have the tools to do so.”
She also enjoys finding creative solutions to make complex systems more efficient and adaptable, allowing them to be used through the ever-changing landscape of resilience.
Despite her busy profession, Kelly loves to travel, experiencing wildlife and nature as often as possible. She also finds time for paddle boarding, yoga and reading in her spare time.
